SUMMARY: The goal of The A.C.C.E.S.S. Advanced Airway Course is to improve outcomes in complex airway emergencies by expanding on core practices and skills, learning current several widely accepted "best practices" and "strategies" in difficult airway management, and encouraging critical thinking and decision-making.
Through cooperative learning and active participation in lectures, small group discussions, case-based scenarios, and skills stations; students enhance their skills in the differential diagnosis and treatment of critically ill and injured patients requiring advanced airway management.
At the end of the course, students should begin to conceptually form a cohesive universal strategy for prehospital airway management, with the twin goals of improving first-pass success and decreasing pt morbidity/mortality via predictable factors.
ATTENDANCE: Attendance is required both days. Please note that this course is open to ACCESS ALS (Paramedic) providers only. Contact your agency's training officer to be approved for attendance in this course.
REQUIREMENTS: In addition to attendance and attendance in this course, students will be required to:
- Complete pre- and post- course surveys
- Complete select pre-course educational assignments in the spirit of "flipped education"
- Complete a final post-course assessment (Test).
This two-day Airway course schedule is scheduled for the following months.
